Cronux: Usage & Consequence

Cronux is a substance found beneath the sands of Zulmar. It does not enhance the body or grant physical power. It interacts with the mind, revealing alternate pasts and possible futures. The danger lies not in the substance itself  but in the visions it offers.

THE NAME

 The name was first spoken by Maava, who named it using the Zulmari language.

In Zulmari compounds, the first root names the phenomenon.
The second reveals its nature.

Cronux: Visions without number.

 Cronux responds to direct contact.
Touch allows the user to experience alternate versions of past events.
Drinking it exposes possible future outcomes. 

Prolonged immersion in Cronux visions may cause the mind to anchor itself to a preferred timeline.

The body remains.
The mind does not return.

Without a mind to contain it, Cronux forces itself outward through the eyes.

The Zulmari call this Nuxboosan.

Nuxboosan: Lost to the countless visions of Cronux.

 Every tribe of Zulmar is led by a Voice.

A Voice governs the people and regulates all interaction with Cronux.
Leadership is earned through discipline and the strength to endure its visions.

THE NAME

In the Zulmari tongue, a Voice is called Crosuu (male) or Crouus (female).

Crosuu: cro (vision) + suu (brother)
Crouus: cro (vision) + uus (sister)

The one who sees for the others without becoming lost.

Manifestations extract Cronux directly from the depths of Zulmar. They do not become lost within its visions. They harvest possibility to calculate the defeat of their rival Manifestations.

THE NAME

The Zulmari call them Naalwaana.

naal — deep
waana — power

Naalwaana: The power that rises from the deep.

The Laws are carved into the bodies of the Ussurim and carried across generations. Cronux is never approached alone. Ritual precedes contact. Discipline prevents temporal loss.
